What it shows. Roughly one construction worker in five is 55 or older. The bulge moves toward retirement every year.
Why it matters. Experienced workers carry knowledge that is hard to write down: how a building goes together, how to read a crew, how to see a problem before it happens.
The response. Apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeship programs, high-school career academies, and museums like this one that show young people the trades.
The question for the visitor. Who taught the oldest worker you know their trade? Who will they teach?
