NEIEP/IUEC Apprenticeship Entry

NEIEP/IUEC Apprenticeship Entry is a portable industry credential issued by National Elevator Industry Educational Program / International Union of Elevator Constructors — the union apprenticeship that trains almost every elevator mechanic. It is recognised by employers wherever the trade is practised, independent of the school that trained you.

It proves that the holder has been examined against a published standard — knowledge on a written exam and, in most cases, an observed practical performance — and has met the standard of National Elevator Industry Educational Program / International Union of Elevator Constructors.

At VoTechWorks the credential is earned inside the programs that carry it (Elevator Mechanic (pre-apprentice)): the universal core, one competency course per curriculum area with a written exam, an observed skills demonstration and a signed log each, a capstone, an externship, then exam preparation and the credential exam itself, sat at the school's authorized testing center or the body's own site.

It leads to entry-level employment in Building & Construction, counts toward the next credential on the stackable pathway, and is the first line on the résumé an employer reads.

Advances through apprenticeship levels; the journey card at completion does not expire.
